Introduction: Through Home Education

In a world where more families are seeking alternatives to traditional schooling, Claire, the founder of Rewilding Family, offers a guiding hand to those embarking on the path of home education. With over 20 years of experience in child development and family support, Claire’s expertise is grounded in both professional knowledge and personal experience.

Her journey into home education started two years ago when she decided to homeschool her own children. Drawing from her extensive background, she realised that her skills in child development, learning, and family systems would be invaluable in this new endeavour. Claire’s mission quickly expanded beyond her own family, as she recognised the need for accessible support and guidance for other parents taking on the challenge of home education.

Claire's Vision: Building a Supportive Community

At the heart of Claire’s work is her desire to empower families. She has designed Rewilding Family to provide workshops and courses that help parents make informed decisions about home education, all while building a community where families can share resources and support each other.

“We want to empower families to break free from the constraints and conventions of traditional schooling and embrace the unique opportunities that home education has to offer.”

Claire understands that starting this journey can be overwhelming. This is why her workshops are structured to be both informative and accessible, giving parents the tools they need without requiring a major financial or time commitment. Her approach allows families to gain confidence in their own abilities, creating environments where curiosity, creativity, and independence can thrive.

Core Values that Guide Rewilding Family

Claire’s approach to home education is underpinned by a set of core values that reflect both her professional experience and her personal philosophy:

  • Connection: For Claire, connection is the foundation of everything. Home education offers the opportunity to deepen connections within the family, as well as within the broader community. The flexibility of home education allows families to nurture these bonds in ways that traditional schooling often cannot.

  • Compassion: Claire believes that compassion is key, not only in parenting but in educating. By fostering a compassionate environment, both parents and children can learn and grow in a supportive, understanding atmosphere.

  • Curiosity: At the centre of Claire’s home education philosophy is curiosity. She advocates for a child-led learning approach, where children are encouraged to explore their interests and passions, letting curiosity guide their learning journey.

  • Change: Claire is clear that home education is not a static process. It requires families to be adaptable, ready to change and evolve as their needs and circumstances shift.

  • Confidence: Successful home education requires confidence—from both parents and children. Claire works to instil that belief in families, encouraging them to trust in their abilities and the natural learning process.

  • Collaboration: Finally, Claire recognises that no one can do it alone. Collaboration with other families, groups, and professionals is essential to creating a well-rounded home education experience.

These values are not only central to Claire’s personal life but are also the foundation of Rewilding Family. Through her work, she helps other families align with these principles, providing a holistic and supportive framework for home education.

Looking Ahead: Claire’s Vision for the Future

As Claire continues to develop Rewilding Family, her vision for the future is both ambitious and grounded in her core values. Over the next year, she aims to expand her offerings to include a wider range of workshops and courses, addressing topics like neurodiversity, mental health, and additional needs in the context of home education.

With plans to collaborate with other professionals, Claire hopes to offer even more specialised support, ensuring that families have access to a diverse range of resources.

“We have exciting plans for the next year, with more courses, workshops, and collaborations”

For Claire, the ultimate goal is to create a strong community where parents feel supported and empowered in their home education journey. By connecting families with the information, tools, and resources they need, Rewilding Family is helping to shape the future of home education, one workshop at a time.
