The Founder
I’m Jack: dad, business consultant and founder of CoWorking Devon.
I entered the business world 15 years ago as a designer. I love business, love thinking business and love talking business, but most of all I love solving problems and finding opportunity in something others may not deem as viable. This approach led me to work in a very commercial world. I founded my visualisation, design and marketing agency in 2013 and spent 11 years working around the globe, partnering with renowned companies like Nvidia and Lenovo. We were a team of 18 people leading the way in the South West.
Then, I had my son and my perspective changed completely. I realised that the 12 hour working days no longer aligned with the life I wanted to live or the goals I had.
The commercial world I had become part of was totally at odds with what I wanted. I realised I had been working so intensely that I had lost traction of who I was. The constant stress of business life had seen me distance myself from my family, myself and life in general. I needed to realign, refocus and build something different.
So I diversified. I focused heavily on health and wellness, and built three new businesses that allowed me to enjoy life again. CoWorking Devon was one of those and it is one that is very much connected to who I am.
Because of my own experiences with mental health through friends, family and also my own struggles, I wanted to build something that could support other business minded people who were feeling stuck. A community of professionals who value their time, value the world we live in and love the outdoor space we have on our doorstep here.
Everything I have done and plan to do with CoWorking Devon has that at it's heart - I may not be in every day, but this matters to me. It is about giving people ways to join us, not only through a space to work but through social events. We introduced weekend studio hire and it is bringing some amazing health and wellness businesses into our community, many of which people knew nothing about. We’re really able to get those businesses doing good in front of more people.
When I paused for a moment, I realised that a business should be built around you and who you really are. Not the other way around. The walks, the hikes, the swims and the socials we do here at CoWorking Devon; they are all things I love to do anyway. Being able to do them with a community of incredible people who are also building their own businesses is a joy. So, yes, you might find that I’m not always here at CoWorking Devon, but it still means everything to me. I’m just away enjoying my life too.
I now also support small business owners like you, to building your business around your life. I work with you on your brand identity, I'll design and build that next website and I'll create long-term marketing strategies and service launch road maps, whilst also offering ongoing consultancy support through each stage.
